Chris Perone was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in November of 2004. He represents the 137th Assembly District which is located in the eastern and central portions of Norwalk.
Chris serves on the Transportation, Environment and Higher Education and Workforce development committees.
In the year and a half since Chris has been elected, he has worked tirelessly to address the concerns of Norwalkers with Transportation and the needs of the elderly being his primary focus. In addition to that, Chris was successful in passing legislation to provide infertility coverage to people who weren't part of a group insurance plan. And most recently, Chris teamed up with Treasurer Denise Nappier to get legislation passed that would provide joint and single filers with a state income tax deduction for signing up with CHET, Connecticut's 529 plan. Not happy that Connecticut received a letter grade "C" from Governing magazine for the way Connecticut ran its departmental agencies, Chris became a charter member of the Results Based Accountability task force to better improve the effectiveness of Connecticut's state agencies. The most important challenge for those agencies who would implement an RBA approach to leadership development, decision-making and budgeting is the shift from measuring program output (i.e., "What we do?" and "How well we do it?") to measuring population outcomes (i.e., "Is anyone better off?"). This, Chris feels, will not only create significant savings but will make our government much more effective in addressing the needs of its citizens.
Prior to serving in the legislature, Chris served in local government. He was a Common Councilman in the City of Norwalk from 2001 to 2003. As Councilman, he chaired the Department of Public Works Committee.
Prior to becoming a state representative, Chris spent his professional life as a commuter and working in the field of advertising. However, since he has become a legislator, Chris has become a Realtor in the greater Norwalk area so he can work in the town that he represents. He is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.F.A. in Advertising.
Chris has been a resident of Norwalk since the early 90's, where he lives with his wife, Christy. They have one child, a little boy named Harrison.
