Greg Burnett, Sr. has served in a variety of community and civic government positions throughout the thirteen years he and his family have lived in Norwalk. In 2003, Mayor Alex Knopp appointed Greg to the Board of Estimate and Taxation, and to the Norwalk Facilities Construction Commission. In these positions, Greg worked closely with other volunteer Board members to review the city budget, make recommendations on spending, and oversight responsibility in the construction of all city facilities such as schools and police/fire stations.

Greg has made a positive impact on both the education life and the community spirit of the city. In the past, he served as vice president of Norwalk's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), on the Board for Communities in Schools in Norwalk and, most recently, on the Blue Ribbon Committee to review Youth Services. Greg was a founding leader of the Tracey School Diversity Parents Group. He later served on the Racial and Cultural Balance Committee for Norwalk Schools and, in 2003, received one of West Rocks Middle School's awards for ‘Most Dedicated Volunteer.'

Greg is a senior human resources professional at IBM Corporation. He joined the company after earning undergraduate degrees in biology and sociology from Syracuse University in New York. He also received a Certificate in Graduate Telecommunications from Pace University, White Plains, NY., and earned a Certificate in Human Resources Studies from Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations, New York.

Greg enjoys coaching basketball in the Norwalk Parks and Recreation Biddy Basketball program. He is also an active member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Greg and his wife, Ava, along with their sons, Gregory Jr. and Justin, are members of New Life Christian Fellowship in Darien, Ct.
