Ken Slapin is a life-long resident of Norwalk with a lengthy record of service to Norwalk. He has served as a Common Council member for four terms, as Council President, and as a member of numerous other community bodies. He led the citys first successful Charter Revision Commission and served on two other Charter Revision Commissions. He led the fight to save the old Norwalk High School for City Hall. As an original commissioner of the Norwalk Transit District, he led the fight to establish the WHEELS bus system. He has also been vice-chair of the Connecticut Public Transportation Commission and chair of the National League of Cities Steering Committee on Transportation & Communications. Ken served as Democratic Town Chair for six years and was a member of the Electoral College in 1996 and 2000; in 1996 he was chairperson of the Connecticut Presidential Electors. He is on the Connecticut Board of the Regional Plan Association. He has been Treasurer of the First Taxing District and currently serves as a First Taxing District Commissioner.
