Perfect 100 Scores on Conservation
Jul. 14, 2006

Hartford, CT July 14 -- State Senator Bob Duff (D- Norwalk) and state Reps. Chris Perone (D-Norwalk) and Joseph E. Mann (D-Norwalk) have earned perfect 100 scores from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters for their 2006 legislative votes on vital, pro-environment legislation.

The non-profit, non-partisan League scored all members of the General Assembly and claimed "significant wins" on new laws affecting land trust property protections (SB 188); clean car emission ratings (SB 660); notification of intent to build in a drinking water watershed (SB 313); mass transit funding; a limit on the sulfur content of home heating oil; water basin planning; reducing emissions from idling school buses and state construction equipment (SB 642); and Shepaug River settlement funding; and more.

Both Sen. Duff and Rep. Perone improved their scores from a 91 in 2005 to a perfect 100 this year. Rep. Mann had scored a perfect 100 in 2005.

"Improving Connecticut's environment and conserving our natural resources was a priority of mine in the House, and it continues to be a priority of mine in the Senate," Sen. Duff said. "For all the talk about smart growth and economic development that we engage in here at the Capitol, the bottom line is that Connecticut offers a superior standard of living for residents and business, and a lot of that has to do with keeping our air, land and water clean and healthy." "The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters is an outstanding organization that does a great job in protecting the environment," Rep. Perone said. "I'm pleased to be recognized by them, and I want to continue supporting environmentally friendly legislation that further protects the invaluable natural resources we have in Connecticut."
