Memorial Celebration For Sylvia Scheduled To Held At The Norwalk Public Library Auditorium
Sep. 1, 2006 There will be a Celebration of the Life of Sylvia (Singerman) Siegel (May 3,1920-June 12, 2006) on Sunday, September 10, 2006 from 1:00 to 3:30pm. The Memorial Service will be held at the Norwalk Public Library Auditorium at 1 Belden Ave. Sylvia was an active member of the Norwalk League of Women Voters for more than 40 years. As well as serving on their Board of Directors, she used her writing ability for the League's benefit -- from contributing and shaping several editions of "This Is Norwalk", to clever song parodies, to publicity and newspaper articles. Sylvia was an energetic volunteer, participating in all aspects of League work. In addition, for many years she was a freelance writer for the Norwalk Hour's "Lifestyles" section. She was a long time political activist in Norwalk. Also, as a member of the African Violet Society, she grew award-winning violets and was a Connecticut area judge. Sylvia was also an active member of "Friends of the Norwalk Public Library" (where donations can be made in her name). At the Service, the family would like to celebrate her life, share stories, thoughts, photos and memories. Sylvia and her husband Philip left Norwalk in January of 2005, for medical reasons and to be nearer to their sons, Jonathan and Steven and their families, in the greater Boston area. Their daughter Nancy (Siegel) Minerva currently resides out of state with her family. But the family will be in attendance "because Norwalk is still home." Please contact the family through Nancy at 516-766-3994-cell, or at Taminprod@aol.com, or write to Philip Siegel at Evans Park, 430 Center Street, Newton, MA 02458. ### |
