Representatives Morris, Perone Invite Majority Leader Donovan To Visit Norwalk Public Schools, Meet Officials
State Rep. Bruce Morris/State Rep. Chris Perone May 11, 2007 Rep. Bruce Morris (D-Norwalk) and Rep. Chris Perone (D-Norwalk) will join House Majority Leader Christopher Donovan (D-Meriden) and Norwalk Superintendent Salvatore Corda, on Monday, May 14th at the Superintendent's Office at 9:30 and will then travel to Kendall Elementary School for a fact-finding tour of Norwalk's public schools and for a special meeting about the unique and pressing needs of Norwalk's families and students. "Norwalk's school system is in dire need of additional funding and I believe it should fall within the definition of an urban school district like other major Connecticut cities with respect to the education cost-sharing formula," Rep. Morris said. "Our school system is not being supported equally within the definition of urban school district." "I am very pleased that the Majority Leader has taken the time to tour Kendall Elementary School with us," Rep. Perone said. "I hope that he will be able to see and understand the unique challenges that our district faces and help us find a way to work with the leadership in Hartford to find solutions." "I look forward to visiting Norwalk students, teachers and school officials," Majority Leader Donovan said. "It is important to learn about the unique challenges of districts like Norwalk as we seek solutions to the state’s education funding crisis." ### |
