Representative Perone Appointed To 'Courage To Speak Foundation' Advisory Board

The non-profit organization, "Courage to Speak Foundation," recently named State Rep. Chris Perone (D-Norwalk) as a member of its advisory board.
"I am deeply humbled to be a member of the Courage to Speak advisory board," Rep. Perone said. "This group does absolutely terrific work in helping keep kids off of drugs. It's really a privilege to be invited to become a part of it."
The Courage to Speak Foundation was founded by President Ginger Katz in 1996 with the purpose to empower young people to live drug-free lifestyles, following the tragic overdose death of her son Ian James Eaccarino that year. Representative Perone has been a strong supporter of the group and more recently has plans to propose legislation that would help identify and aid college students who suffer from substance abuse problems.
"All of us at Courage to Speak are honored that Representative Chris Perone has stepped forward and agreed to serve on our Advisory Board," Katz said. "His knowledge of the workings of government combined with his commitment to substance abuse prevention and youth will be an invaluable asset in helping us save lives of young people."
Courage to Speak focuses on a drug prevention curriculum at various school levels and has recently launched a new parenting program called, "Courageous Parenting 101." The group has already planned a variety of programs and services for the 2008 year.
"Attending Courage to Speak meetings has been a great way to ensure that I am working in Hartford with the best interests of Norwalk in mind," said Rep. Perone. "I look forward to being able to take a more active and leadership role now that I have been placed on the group's advisory board."
Rep. Christopher Perone is serving his second term representing the 137th Assembly District of Norwalk. He is Vice Chair of the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, and is a member of the Education and Transportation Committees.
